Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: FALLING
Title 40.1-51.1.(a); Code of Virginia: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that: Employee(s) were performing framing operations at Lot# 28 Onyx Way in the front room near the Northeastern wall. Employee(s) were exposed to the hazard of falling from a ladder due to leaning to one side and extending their reach outside of a safe work position. One feasible and acceptable abatement method, among others, to correct this hazard is to comply with the manufacturer safety specifications "The Right Way & Wrong Way to use a ladder" provided by Werner Co. The manufacturer safety specifications are delivered with the ladder, available by request from the manufacturer, or can be obtained from Werner's website. The use specifications states:" Don't over-reach, lean to one side, or try to move a ladder while on it. Climb down and then reposition the ladder closer to the work".
