Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: ELECTRIC
N.C.G.S. 95-129(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of North Carolina: The employer did not furnish each of his employees conditions of employment and a place of employment free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to electrical hazards from improper use of temporary wiring,exposure to live electrical parts,and lack of permanent and continuous path to ground from ciircuits, equipment, and enclosures. a) Outlets in the kitchen and bathroom within two feet of a water supply were not not grounded or GFCI protected. b) Grounding pin was missing on the electrical supply cord to the refrigerator. c) A home made light fixture had improper and exposed wiring. Among others, a feasible and acceptable method of abating this violation is to provide migrant farmworkers with electrical wiring and appliances to include light fixtures that meet the National Electric Code, Underwriters Laboratory (UL) and any other applicable codes.
