Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: EXPLOSION
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to fire and explosion hazards when: a.On or aobut December 19, 2007, the backup water supply for the High Pressure Reactor R-102 was not operable. b.On or about December 19, 2007, the relief device for the High Pressure Reactor R-102 did not receive proper maintenance. c.On or about December 19, 2007, the control room was not built to withstand a catastrophic explosion. The parties agree that there is one or more feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct the resulting hazards from instances a, b and c.d
