Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to being struck by high pressure water: a.On or about June 11, 2007, the front barrel of a control gun used to water blast the interior of a hot well tank was modified from the original manufactured length of 48 inches to a length of 28-1/8 inches, exposing an employee to a water- injection/struck-by hazard associated with the use of a high pressure 9,500 p.s.i. control gun. Among other methods, one reasonable means of abatement would be: 1. To assure that the length of control gun assemblies are maintained according to the manufacturer's guidelines. ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION IS REQUIRED.TION
