SCRR 71-112A: Failed to furnish a place of employment which is free of recognized hazards which may cause death or serious physical harm to his employees and comply with this regulation and other occupational safety and health rules and regulations promulgated under Chapter 15 of Title 41, Code of Laws, State of South Carolina, 1976, as amended, as follows: A. Employer knew or should have known that employees working/walking behind 25 eighteen wheeler Carolina Pride trucks were exposed to the hazard of being backed over by trucks moving in reverse. A feasible and useful means of abatement, among others, to check and use operable back-up alarms. B. Employer knew or should have known that employees riding freight elevator were exposed to the hazard of not being able to control elevator movement in case of emergency. A feasible and useful means of abatement, among others, is to prohibit the use of employees riding the elevators. C. Employer knew or should have known that employees operating the trash compactor without a constant pressure switch were exposed to the hazard of getting their hand caught and crushed by the ram. A feasible and useful means of abatement, among others, is to install a constant pressure switch on the trash compactor. D. Employer knew or should have known that the employee driving the 586E Case forklift is exposed to the hazard of being thrown from the forklift and crushed. A feasible and useful means of abatement, among others, is to require and enforce the use of a seat belt. E. Employer knew or should have known that employees using the Womack 50 Nissan forklift were exposed to the hazard of being thrown from the forklift and crushed. A feasible and useful means of abatement, among others, is to require and enforce the use of a seat belt.
