Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm: The employer violated this standard on January 11, 2007, when Rocky Farmers Cooperative did not provide fall protection system while employees were engaged in loading grain from the top of rail cars 15 feet above ground. This exposed the employees to the recognized hazards of falls. Among other methods a feasible and acceptable method of abatement to correct this hazard would be to install permanent horizontal lifeline systems with retractable lifeline along the loading area.ng
