Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: BURNS
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm: At the jobsite on or about 07/25/06 employees were required to perform assigned work using a Cardwell work over rig without relieving well pressure or operate safely with the well under pressure. Employees were exposed to the type of hazards associated with serious burns and lung inhalation. Among others, one feasible and acceptable method of abatement would be to comply with the requirement of American Petroleum Institute's, API Recommended Practice 54, Recommended Practice for Occupational Safety for Oil and Gas Well Drilling and Servicing Operations requirement 6.3.4 and the company's Job Safety Analysis workbook's recommended safe practice for bleeding down a well.
