Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: STRUCK BY
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard of being struck by moving customer's vehicles at the work station at the north end of the car wash tunnel: a) Waterworks Car Wash & Detail Center, 758 Garfield Ave., Jersey City, NJ. On December 23, 2005 and at times thereafter, employees entering the information for the type of wash customers were ordering, were exposed to the hazard of being struck by a moving motor vehicle. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to install substantial bollards or move the work station from the vehicle paths to prevent vehicles running into the worker at the computer.
