Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish a place of employment which was free from recognized hazards that were likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to being struck by pieces of falling ceiling materials. Dasco Warehouse. Testor employees who worked in the Dasco warehouse were exposed to falling pieces of gypsum ceiling materials. The warehouse ceiling and roof were deteriorated from age and weather exposure. Abatement certification and documentation is required for this item in accordance with the requirements of 29 CFR 1903.19(d)(1). Some feasible means of abatement, among others, would include: a)Repair of the roof and ceiling in accordance with industry practices.
