Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to struck by hazards, while performing framing work: On or about 03/03/07 at 2410 Green Mountain Drive, Braselton, GA: Employees were exposed to struck by hazards, while performing framing work. The employer failed to ensure that the residential home was properly framed, which resulted in a structural failure and subsequent collapse. AMONG OTHER METHODS, ONE FEASIBLE AND ACCEPTABLE ABATEMENT METHOD TO CORRECT THIS HAZARD IS: The employer should ensure compliance with framing practices and procedures as outlined in the International Residential Code for One and Two Family Dwellings with Georgia State Amendments when constructing residential homes. In accordance with 29 CFR 1903.19(c), abatement certification is required for this violation (using the CERTIFICATION OF CORRECTIVE ACTION WORKSHEET).
