Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard of being struck sharp pieces. PVC pipe was being used to transport compressed air. Date: on or about 07/19/2006 Location: Shop Equipment: schedule 40-PSI 450 ASTM 0-175 PVC1120 pipes Condition: The employer had installed PVC pipe to distribute compressed air that was being used to operate the portable grinders being used by the employees to smooth out the propellers manufactured at the site. In accordance with 29 CFR 1903.19(c), abatement certification is required for this violation (using the CERTIFICATION OF CORRECTIVE ACTION WORKSHEET).
