Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees. On or about 05/25/06 at 2323 Thomson Road, Washington, GA: employees were exposed to the following fall hazards: 1) An Employee was exposed to fall hazards, while placing a tarp on a trailer, at a height of approximately 10 feet 10 inches above the ground. The employee was not provided with fall protection. 2) Employees were exposed to fall hazards, while being lifted atop trailers with a front end loader at a height of approximately 10 feet 10 inches above the ground, without fall protection. "AMONG OTHER METHODS, ONE FEASIBLE AND ACCEPTABLE ABATEMENT METHOD TO CORRECT THIS HAZARD IS" 1) Employer should consider using a mobile ladder to assist workers tarping trailers or constructing a platform with a guardrail system, where employees could access the trailer top safely.
