Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recogn ized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to being struck by a limb: location : 1425 Flagler Dr. on or about: 9/28/06 a) An employee was in a tree, cutting li mbs. A second employee was standing on the ground below. The employee on the gro und was exposed to the hazard of being struck by the falling limb. Among other m ethods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is t o: Follow paragraph 9.5.5 of the American National Standard for Arboricultural Oper ations, Pruning, Repairing, Maintaining, and Removing Trees, and Cutting Brush - Safety Requirements, ANSI Z133.1 Revision October 2000, which states: Workers s hall be positioned and their duties organized so the actions of one worker will not create a hazard for any other worker.
