Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to amputations from rotating blade: a)At the jobsite: The engine stop control bar on a Toro lawn mower was non functional. Among other methods one feasible and acceptable means of abatement would be to; Ensure that the lawn mowers stop control mechanism is operational, as indicated in the manufacturer's owner's manual and provide specific equipment training to all employees using lawn mowers. Abatement certification must be submitted for this item.
