Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard of being struck by running blades: a.8 Owens Ct. - A Walker ride-on mower, with a mowing deck s/n of D-7 60315, was not equipped with functioning shutoff switch under the seat, on or about June 13, 2006. The shutoff switch under the seat had been unplugged. ABATEMENT NOTE: Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable means of abatement would be to ensure that interlock switches are functioning correctly, as indicated in the manufacturer's Owner's Manual.
