Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: UNAPOPPROC
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees, in that: a) Rudolph/Libbe Inc. - Toledo, Ohio: On or about February 24, 2006 the employer failed to ensure that employees walking on and crossing the access ramp leading into the equalization basin on the work site were safeguarded from rough-terrain forklift operations on the ramp, while the forklift was backing out of the basin area. Abatement Note: One method of abating this hazard is to safeguard pedestrians at all times as indicated in The American Society of Mechanical Engineers, ASME B56.6-2002, 6.2.6. Safeguarding employees can be accomplished by prohibiting pedestrian traffic on the access ramp into the equalization basin, while rough terrain forklifts are traveling on the ramp. No abatement certification or documentation is required for this item.red
