Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: LIFTING
Section 5(a)1 of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish to each of his employees employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to a struck-by/crushing hazard from suspended loads: On or about 05/24/06, on the southeast side of the site, an employee was exposed to the hazard of being struck-by a load of soil that was being lifted over the employee. Among other methods of abatement, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard is to prohibit lifting loads over employees. PLEASE NOTE: CERTIFICATION AND DOCUMENTATION OF ABATEMENT IS NOT REQUIRED FOR THIS VIOLATION.
