Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: STRUCK BY
Section 5(A)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish to each of his employees employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or were likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to struck-by and run over hazards: On or about 04/24/06, at a traffic intersection, employees who lacked high visibility apparel were exposed to the hazards of being struck and run over by moving vehicles while cutting and trimming lawn. Among other methods of abatement, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard is to provide high visibility apparel to employees who conduct landscaping or horticultural work. IN THE ALTERNATIVE 29 CFR 1910.132(a): Protective equipment was not used when necessary, whenever hazards capable of causing injury and impairment were encountered: On or about 04/24/06, at a traffic intersection, employees who lacked high visibility apparel were exposed to the hazards of being struck and run over by moving vehicles while cutting and trimming lawn.
