Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: CRUSHING
Section 5(a)1 of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish to each of his employees employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to a fall and crushed by hazards: On or about 10/05/05, at the Shore Development located in Plantation Key, Florida an employee was exposed to the hazards of falling and being crushed by a front end loader arm while working from the arm of a John Deere front end loader, model 444J. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to prohibit employees from using a loader to elevate personnel as noted in the Operator's Manual, specifically, " Never use the loader to lift people". PLEASE NOTE: DOCUMENTATION AND CERTIFICATION OF ABATEMENT IS REQUIRED FOR THIS VIOLATION.
