Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: STRUCK BY
Section 5(a)1 of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish to each of his employees employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to a struck-by hazard: On or about 10/29/05, employees were exposed to potential struck-by hazards due to the operation of a defective gate. Among other methods of abatement, one feasible and acceptable abatement method for this hazard would be to ensure equipment in use is inspected and maintained in a safe operating condition. PLEASE NOTE: DOCUMENTATION AND CERTIFICATION OF ABATEMENT IS REQUIRED FOR THIS VIOLATION.
