Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: STRUCK BY
North Carolina General Statute 95-129(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of North Carolina: The employer did not furnish to each of his employees conditions of employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to a struck by flying staple hazard: a)frame assembly area, for the employees operating pneumatic staplers at or above 100 PSI installing 17 gauge staples, the safety device was removed, exposing employees to a struck by flying staple hazard. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard would be to ensure that the safety devices provided by the manufacturer are not removed and are appropriately functioning.
