Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer does not furnish employment and a place of employment which are free from recognized hazards that are likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees are exposed to a FIRE HAZARD: a)On or about 12/15/06, Coldbrook Road, Bourroughs #1: Employees were smoking within 100 feet from the drilling rig well bore. Among other methods, feasible and acceptable means of abatement is to: 1) Follow American Petroleum Institute (API) RP54, the Recommended Practice for Occupational Safety for Oil & Gas Well Drilling Operations, dated August 1999, paragraph 7.1. 2) Ban smoking and all smoking materials from being allowed within 100 feet of the drilling rig well bore. b)On or about 12/15/06, Coldbrook Road, Bourroughs #1: There was no "No Smoking" signs posted near the drilling rig well bore or at the job site. Among other methods, feasible and acceptable means of abatement is to: 1) Follow American Petroleum Institute (API) RP54, the Recommended Practice for Occupational Safety for Oil & Gas Well Drilling Operations, dated August 1999, paragraph 7.1. 2) Instal "No Smoking" signs near the drilling rig well bore and on the site. Abatement certification must be submitted for this item.
