Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: LIFTING
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard of being struck by the load should the below-the- hook lifting device fail: a)Lamination Department, on or about 10/20/05: The below-the-hook lifting device used for lifting lamination rolls was not being inspected on a frequent and periodic basis and had no rated load capacity rating. Among other methods, feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct thishazards is to: 1.Conduct frequent and periodic inspections of the lifting devices in accordance with ASME B30.20-1993, Section 20-2.3. 2.Rate and mark the load capacity of the below-the-hook lifting devices as per ASME B30.20-1993, Section 20-1.2.1. Abatement certification must be submitted for this item.
