North Carolina General Statute 95-129(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of North Carolina: The employer did not furnish to each of his employees conditions of employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: a)automotive repair shop, employees were exposed to struck-by and caught between hazards from vehicles rolling off the end of automotive lifts due to not utilizing rear wheel chocks and front wheel stops. b)automotive repair shop, employees were exposed to struck-by and caught between hazards from automotive lifts. Employer did not maintain lifts through regular preventive maintenance and inspections in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendations. c)automotive repair shop, employees were exposed to struck-by and caught between hazards from automotive lifts. Employer did not have a training program how to operate and maintain the lifts. NOTE:Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to abate this hazard includes the following: 1.Comply with the ANSI/ALI ALOIM-2000 Automotive Lift Institute Standard for Automotive Lifts- Safety Requirements for Operation, Inspection and Maintenance.
