Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: FALLING
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employmnent and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that: (a)On or about 03/07/06, in the warehouse, employees were exposed to a fall hazard of up to 19 feet while in a plywood box attached to the forklift with nylon straps and which was used to reach merchandise stored on the upper level of racking. ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION REQUIRED Feasible means of abatement include: 1.Design a platform that conforms to the requirements of ASME B56.1- 2000, par. 4.17 and 7.36; 2.Use a cage designed for the purpose of elevating personnel on a forklift truck including using proper fall protection; 3.Use a lift designed and approved by the manufacturer for the purpose of reaching high elevations.
