Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: CRUSHING
North Carolina General Statute 95-129(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of North Carolina: The employer did not furnish to each of his employees conditions of employment and a place of employment free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees, in that employees were exposed to the hazard of being runover by a bulldozer: a)jobsite - where the driver of the bulldozer continued operating in reverse without establishing the location of employee(s) on foot, known to be in close proximity. Feasible and acceptable abatement methods, among others, to correct this hazard would be to: (1) always know the location of all workers in the area; (2) keep persons completely away from the machine; (3) warn workers in the area before the starting work.
