Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: FALLING
SCRR 71-112A: Failed to furnish a place of employment which is free of recognized hazards which may cause death or serious physical harm to his employees and comply with this regulation and other occupational safety and health rules and regulations promulgated under Chapter 15 of Title 41, Code of Laws, State of South Carolina, 1976, as amended, as follows: A. On or about November 21, 2005, employer knew or should have known that two employees were exposed to the hazard of crossing a 59 inch wide funnel to enter a mixer with a fall of 18 to 20 feet. A feasible and useful method to correct this hazard, among other methods, is to provide and train employees in the use of a safety belt and lanyard. B. On or about November 21, 2005, employer knew or should have known that three employees were exposed to the hazards of walking on an elevated walkway with a 2 1/2 foot split in the walkway floor with a potential fall of 10 feet to concrete and gravel. A feasible and useful method to correct this hazard, among other methods, is to replace and or repair the split in the metal of the elevated walkway.
