Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: LIFTING
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to caught-between and struck-by hazards: a)Shadow Builders, Inc. & 3450 Shallow Pond Drive in Fort Collins, CO: The exposing employer did not ensure the elevated working platform was securely attached to the lifting carriage or the forks of the rough terrain forklift. This condition exposed employees to falls from elevation. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to perform the following: ASME B56.6-1992, American Society of Mechanical Engineers, Section 5.15.1(b) "Be certain that the platform is securely attached to the lifting carriage or forks".
