Labor and Employment Article, Section 5-104(a): The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees: (a)Date of Violation:05/24/05 Condition:Employees rode at the back of refuse truck #483 on the loading bar, sill, and hopper while the truck was traveling and operated in reverse. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to permit employees to ride on the refuse truck only when standing on the traveling steps while the truck is traveling forward at less than 10 miles per hour for a distance not to exceed 0.2 miles. Develop and implement a comprehensive safety training program using manufacrute's recommendations and American National Standard, ANSI Z 245.1-1992, Safety Requirements for Mobile Refuse Collection and Compacting Equipment. Abatement documentation (photographs, receipts, copies of programs, training certification, etc.) is required for this item.
