Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: FALLING
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard of falling from the golf carts and striking against the asphalt roadway: (a)At the Polaris Point music concert, the employer failed to ensure that no more than two employees rode in golf carts designed for two passengers, exposing employees to the hazard of falling off the carts and striking against the asphalt. One feasible and acceptable means to abate this hazard is to follow the instructions in the golf cart owner's manual and the instructions displayed on stickers on the golf cart that prohibit more than two passengers on the cart and body parts outside of the seating area.ng
