Minn. Stat. 182.653 subd. 2: The employer did not furnish to each employee, conditions of employment and a place of employment free from recognized hazards which caused or were likely to cause death or serious injury to employees: A five foot length of Grade 40 chain with 3/8 X 1 1/2 links was draped across the outrigger crane hook in the Machine Shop by the Hyd-Mech Saw, to use as a two-legged sling. Vertical lifts require an alloy steel chain sling that has an identification tag and must meet the requirements for vertical lifts as specified in CFR 1910.184(e)(1)&(2).
