Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: On or about October 25, 2006, at a site located at 601 Lutz Road, Bloomington, IL, REC Construction, Inc. employees were exposed to the hazard of truss collapse due to inadequate truss bracing. Among other methods, feasible and acceptable abatement methods to correct this hazard would be to: Comply with the BCSI 1-03 Guide to Good Practice for Handling, Installing, & Bracing of Metal Plate Connected Wood Trusses: "Disregarding handling, installing and bracing safety recommendations is the major cause of truss erection/installation accidents. Ignoring an unsafe condition or action will greatly increase the probability of an accident occurring which could easily result in property damage, but more significantly, may also cause serious personal injury or death." ***THIS ITEM REQUIRES DOCUMENTATION OF ABATEMENT***
