Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: CRUSHING
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard of crushing injuries: At Cast Technologies Peoria, Inc., an employee working in the Foundry was exposed to the hazard of being crushed by a load suspended from the Bridge Crane located at the Mold- Making End of the Cope and Drag Line because the crane was not marked with the rated load. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to mark the crane with the rated load in accordance with ASME B30.11-1998, American Society of Mechanical Engineers for Monorails and Underhung Cranes, Section 11-1.1.1.
