Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: GUARDING

Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that: On July 22, 2005 at the Caterpillar Mossville Plant Building DD an employee, conducting re- bolt down operations at Skid Station #2, was struck from behind and pinned between an engine being transported by the "Power and Free" overhead conveyor and another engine resting on the station platform. Employees were not protected by antirunway devices that would have prevented the uncontrolled movement of the overhead conveyor. Employees were also not trained in the safe and proper operation of the overhead conveyor under normal conditions and emergency situations. Among the feasible means of abatement are: Comply with the requirements of ASME/ANSI B20.1-1996 Safety Standard for Conveyors and other Related Equipment. NO DOCUMENTATION OR CERTIFICATION REQUIRED FOR THIS ITEM
