North Carolina General Statute 95-129(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of North Carolina: The employer did not furnish each of his employees conditions of employment and a place of employment free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to an elevated portable belt conveyor system which exhibited broken and bent conveyor structural supports. a)facility, decline palletizing line #1 - where the elevated belt en masse conveyor system carrying products to the palletizing area exhibited damaged conveyor structural supports. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to repair or replace the supports when damage is incurred, and additionally, train employees to report damage immediately. References: ASME B20.1-1990,1992 and 2000, Paragraph, 6.4.1. En masse conveyors are not considered as free standing and are to be braced at intervals indicated by the manufacturer.
