Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: STRUCK BY
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard of being struck by the hook and block. a)Court House: A Kato Mobil Crane KR-25H was used to hoist a concrete bucket to the roof top. The anti-two-blocking device was not working. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to conduct frequent inspections for defects and malfunction in the anti-two block safety device and to make adjustments and repairs to the anti-two block safety device to ensure correct functioning, as required by the 1994 ASME B 30.5 for Mobile and Locomotive Cranes.
