Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: FALLING
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to falling hazards: a.On or about January 31, 2006, in the Metal department, the employer allowed employees to use the top or top step of a Werner 6-foot stepladder to sheath the side of the home. b.On or about January 31, 2006, in the Trim Department, the employer allowed employees to use the top or top step of a Werner 4-foot stepladder to install a light fixture. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to enforce the manufacturer's recommendation that employees do not use the top or top step of a stepladder. ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION IS REQUIRED.TION
