Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: CRUSHING
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which was free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: (a) Sugarcrest drive, Castlebury sub-division: On April 21 2005, an employee was exposed to a fall hazard of approximately six feet and a crushing hazard, when riding atop the roll over protection assembly on the New Holland LS180 skid steer. (b)Sugarcrest drive, Castlebury sub-division: On April 21 2005, employee(s) were exposed to a crushing hazard, when riding in the bucket of the New Holland LS180 skid steer. NOTE 1) A feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to provide and enforce training on proper use and operation of the equipment. Another acceptable abatement method is to install and maintain safety warning decals or signs on the equipment per the owners manual. Note 2) Abatement certification is required for this item.
