Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to hazards created by automatically activated gates opening and closing: At the Worksite - During snow removal around the exit gate, an employee was injured when the gate started opening. The employee's finger was lacerated on moving parts of the gate. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method of abatement is to ensure employees are aware of the hazards created when the gates move, through increased training.
