Section 6(a) of the Puerto Rico Occupational Safety and Health Act: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: Seccion 6(a) de la Ley de Seguridad y Salud en el Trabajo de Puerto Rico: El patrono no proveyo empleo y un sitio de empleo libre de riesgos reconocidos que esten causando o que puedan causar muerte o dano fisico a los empleados, por cuanto empleados estaban expuestos a: a)Eye stress do to computer operation in a nearly dark room - The nutricionist office was nearly dark (five foot-candles). The room neon lamp was in an in- operable condition since two weeks ago. The room was constructed for artificial illumination without window openings. For efficient visual performance the minimum illumination in a computer work station shall be 150 foot candles as per the requirements of ANSI RP-1-1982. a)Fatiga visual por operar computadoras en un area casi a oscuras - La oficina de la nutricionista estaba casi a oscuras (cinco pies-bujias). La lampara de neon de la oficina estaba danada desde hacia dos semanas. La oficina fue construida para utilizar iluminacion artificial sin aberturas para ventanas.
