Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: CAUGHT

Section 6(a) of the Puerto Rico Occupational Safety and Health Act: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: Seccion 6(a) de la Ley de Seguridad y Salud en el Trabajo de Puerto Rico: El patrono no proveyo empleo y un sitio de empleo libre de riesgos reconocidos que esten causando o que puedan causar muerte o dano fisico a los empleados, por cuanto empleados estaban expuestos a: Employees exposed to the hazard of being caught between the chassis and bed of the dump truck. It observed that the Truck trademark Izusu (2003) had the power cables, which are used to raise and lower the truck bed, broken. Employees had to crawl in between the chassis and bed to operate the raising mechanism to deposit construction material as sand and stone. The employees were doing their tasks as driver at the El Yunque #2 Hardware Store, located on Road #3 Km 25.9, Rio Grande. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard is repair the power cables of the truck. Empleados expuestos al riesgo de quedar pillados entre la tumba y el chasis del camion. Se observo que el camion marca Izusu (2003) tenia los cables de energia rotos, los cuales se usan para subir y bajar la tumba del camion. Los empleados tienen que meterse entre el chasis y la tumba para activar el mecanismo de elevar para depositar material de construccion tales como arena y piedra. Los empleados realizaban sus tareas como choferes en la Ferreteria El Yunque #2, localizado en la Carr. #3 Km 25.9, Rio Grande. Entre otros metodos, un metodo apropiado y acceptable para corregir este riesgo es reparar los cables del power del camion.
