29 CFR 1910.184(c)(9): Employees were not kept clear of suspended loads: On or about May 30, 2005, drilling site west of Eufaula, Oklahoma; employees were exposed to the hazard of being struck by a well head stack, which had been lifted from a gas well and suspended in a chain sling as employees attempted to remove the bottom spool from the stack. ***IN THE ALTERNATIVE:*** Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm: On or about May 30, 2005, drilling site west of Eufaula, Oklahoma; employees were exposed to the hazard of being struck by a well head stack, which had been lifted from a gas well and suspended in a chain sling as employees attempted to remove the bottom spool from the stack. A feasible method to correct the hazard would be to implement procedures for assembly and disassembly of the well head stacked equipment components in accordance with the manufacturers recommendations for proper rigging of equipment being lifted.nt
