Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: UNAPEQUIP
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: (a) Werner 8 foot (2.4m) fiberglass ladder had a damaged side rail that was repaired with shipping tape. The ladder was located in the warehouse area. Among other methods, one feasible method of abatement is to perform inspection and maintenance of ladders, and remove ladders from service when damaged as described in ANSI A14.5, Portable reinforced ladders, section 9.4.
