Section 6(a) of the Puerto Rico Occupational Safety and Health Act: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: Seccion 6(a) de la Ley de Seguridad y Salud en el Trabajo de Puerto Rico: El patrono no proveyo empleo y un sitio de empleo libre de riesgos reconocidos que esten causando o que puedan causar muerte o dano fisico a los empleados, por cuanto empleados estaban expuestos a: At the Emilio R. Delgado High School; the employees were performing the following works; writing in the computers, answering the phone, attending people, teaching the students, correcting papers, cleaning the school, among others. The buildings A, B, C, D and E of the school showed cracks on the floor, walkways, ceiling, colums, stairs and beams and deformations on doors and windows. The Jaca & Sierra Testing Laboratories performing an inspection and soil test where they found that the soil use as fill layers during the original school construction where not compacted adequately, it cause and continue causing the stuctural problems. Hazard: Structural damages. Among other correction methods, a feasible and acceptable to correct this hazard, is performing a complete evaluation by an structural engineer considering the recommendations of the soil survey perform by the company Jaca & Sierra Testing Laboratories. En la Escuela Superior Emilio R. Delgado; los empleados estaban realizando los siguientes trabajos: escribiendo en las computadoras, contestando el telefono, atendiendo publico, ensenando a los estudiantes, corrigiendo documentos, limpiando la escuela, entre otros. Los edificios A, B, C, D y E de la escuela, presentaban grietas en el piso, las aceras, el techo, las columnas, escaleras y vigas y deformaciones en puertas y ventanas. La compania "Jaca & Sierra Testing Laboratories" donde se encontro que las capas de relleno utilizadas durante la construccion original de la escuela, no fueron compactadas adecuadamente lo que causo y sigue causando los problemas estructurales. Riesgo: Danos estructurales. Entre otros metodos, uno factible y aceptable para corregir este riesgo es, realizar una evaluacion completa por un ingeniero estructural considerando las recomendaciones del estudio de suelo realizado por la compania "Jaca & Sierra Testing Laboratories".s
