Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: On or about 09/14/05, at 101 Manor Dr., Baldwin, GA: a) Employee exposed to rough terrain forklift hazards. Employee was operating a SkyTrak 6042 without using the supplied restraint system (seat belt). "AMONG OTHER METHODS, ONE FEASIBLE AND ACCEPTABLE ABATEMENT METHOD TO CORRECT THIS HAZARD IS": 1) Instruct each employee during initial training and safety meetings, to use the operator restraint system (seat belts) in accordance with SkyTrak Owners/Operators Manual, Model 6042. 2) Conduct periodic monitoring inspections of rough terrain forklift drivers and correct deficiencies immediately.
