Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to THE HAZARD OF BEING STRUCK-BY THE LOAD: a)Paint spray area overhead hoists, on or about 07/09/2004: Two one ton overhead electric hoists, Serial Numbers unknown had no frequent or periodic inspections conducted nor records maintained of those inspections. b)Prefab area overhead motor hoist, on or about 07/09/2004: One 3 ton Twin City Overhead Electric hoist, serial number unknown had no frequent or periodic inspections conducted nor records maintained of those inspections. c)Band Saw area Overhead hoist, on or about 07/09/2004: One 3 ton Twin City electric overhead hoist, serial number unknown had no frequent or periodic inspections conducted nor records maintained of those inspections. d)Fab shop area near overhead shipping/receiving door, on or about 07/09/2004: One 5 ton electric overhead hoist, unknown name and serial number had no frequent or periodic inspections conducted nor records maintained of those inspections. Among other methods, feasible and acceptable abatement methods to correct this hazard is to: 1.Conduct frequent and periodic inspections of all hoisting equipment. 2.Maintain dated inspection reports or comparable records on critical items such as hoisting machinery and other lifting devices in accordance with ANSI B30.16-1987, Chapter 16-2.
