Section 5(a)(1): of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard of being struck-by loose cinderblocks above the wall of the receiving area/truck bay areas. a).On or about 06/28/06 - Bay #2 at 34-51 48th Street. Long Island City NY Employees working in the receiving area pass directly underneath the loose cinderblocks. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to: Remove or repair the loose cinderblocks from the top of the wall. Install bigger buffers on the concrete foundation in the loading dock area to absorb the impact from trucks backing up into the loading Bays. Paint lines on the driveways as a reference for the truck drivers when the trucks are backing up to the loading bays. No Abatement Verification is needed.ation
