Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: FALLING

Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to a 15 ft. fall hazard from an unguarded side of the elevated lift work platform: a) Bradford Dyeing Association, Dyehouse, The employee was elevated approximately 15 ft to repair the roof on or about July 22, 2005 and the access end of the platform was not provided with top-rail and mid-rail guards. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard would be to comply with the American National Standards Institute, ANSE A 92.6-1999 Standard, for Self-Propelled Elevating Work Platforms.
