Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: CUTS
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to amputation hazards while cutting short lengths of unsecured pipes, using a Ridgid miter saw with an incompatible DeWalt chop saw metal cutting wheel. Among other methods, some feasible and acceptable abatement methods are as follows: 1. Use only 10" saw blade which meets the requirements of Ridgid's recommended accessories in the owner's manual; 2. Always secure small lengths of stock when cutting with this saw.
