Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: EXPLOSION
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employmnent and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that: (a)On or about 3/29/05, tank shop employees were exposed to fire and/or explosion hazards while using a truck-mounted bulk transfer blower to ventilate liquified petroleum gas cargo transports out-of-doors. Among other methods, a feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard would be to either utilize the ventilation rack station at the facility, or utilize an alternate procedure which complies with the provisions of NFPA 58, Standard for Storage and Handling of Liquified Petroleum Gases, and NFPA 77, Recommended Practice on Static Electricity, 1989 or more current.
